Chapter 1: The Awakening

The evening breeze ruffled Shadowkit's fur as she sat outside the nursery, scanning the moonlit camp. Many cats were heading to bed in their dens, the starlight shining. Her blue eyes stared into the dark forest, streams hidden in the trees. 'Shadowkit, come on! It's way past your bedtime!" Her mother Dewfrost called from inside. Shadowkit rose to her paws, staring at the glowing circle in the sky that was the moon. "Someday....." She whispered, remembering the many adventurous stories she had heard from the elders, passed down from paw to paw. "Someday.... I'll set off on an adventure, called to StarClan, an adventure no one will predict....... And it will be great....."
